The GCA also introduced a new award: the Kulia i Ka Nuu “Strive for the Highest” award, presented to U.S. Sen. Daniel Inouye. Because Inouye could not attend and spoke via a video message, Edmund Aczon, field representative for Inouye, accepted the honor on his behalf.
Other awards presented were the most improved committee award given to the Construction Leadership Council and outstanding performance committee award given to the Membership Committee.
Renowned local group Hapa entertained the audience after the formal program was completed.
