SEAOH Installs 2010 Officers

The Structural Engineers Association of Hawaii (SEAOH) held its 41st annual installation banquet on Jan. 15 at the Building Industry Association’s Construction Training Center of the Pacific, the first such non-BIA event held at the facility.
The 2010 roster of leaders includes:

President: Ron Iwamoto, Iwamoto & Associates, LLC
Vice President: Brian Ide, Allison Ide Structural Engineers, LLC
Secretary: Karl Umemoto, Nagamine Okawa Engineers, Inc.
Treasurer: Pat Calizar, retired from Hawaiian Electric Co.

Myles Shimokawa of KSF, Inc. will continue to serve as immediate past president.
The board also includes the following directors: Stephanie Doan, Parsons Brinkerhoff; John Cheung, CC Engineering & Construction, Inc.; James “Kimo” Scott, OK Hardware & Construction Supply, Inc.; and Les Kempers, GPRM Prestress.

SEAOH’s latest lifetime member, only one of nine with the honor.
Right, Keynote speaker and political analyst Dan Boylan said the various 2010 political elections are, at this point, too close to call.

Well known political analyst Dan Boylan was the evening’s keynote speaker, who presented “The Structural Integrity of Hawaii’s Politics in 2010.” After discussing the strengths and weaknesses of those running for office in the various positions, including governor and U.S. representative, Boylan declined to predict the winner, stating, “It will be a really close election that could get real dirty. It should be a very good race but I wouldn’t place any bets.”

Another highlight of the evening was the induction of member Vernon Ching as a lifetime member, becoming one of only nine people who have earned the honor.
